When I’m not talking about books, I’m obsessing over food, recipes, and chefs. I love how so much of one’s culture can be expressed through food.

I’ve loved watching how Appalachian chef Sean Brock has dedicated his career to honoring and preserving the food and cuisine from his Appalachian heritage. His two cookbooks, Heritage and South, contain a wealth of recipes and general knowledge about Appalachian heritage vegetables and animal breeds.

If you are looking for a place to start learning more about Appalachian, definitely pick of these two books!

Obviously, Brock’s work focuses on his region of Appalachia. There are so many other great resources and food cultures from the region. What are some of your favorite cookbooks?
